Common Questions

Everything You Need to Know About Our Proas

Get answers to frequently asked questions about our vessels, construction process, and services

What makes proas different from traditional sailing boats?
Proas feature an asymmetric design with one hull optimised for sailing in one direction. This unique configuration provides exceptional stability, reduced drag, and impressive speed whilst maintaining excellent directional control. The design also allows for more efficient use of space and materials compared to traditional monohulls or catamarans.
How long does it take to build a custom proa?
Construction time varies depending on the size and specification of your vessel. Typically, our Coastal Cruiser takes 8-12 months, the Offshore Explorer requires 12-16 months, and the Performance Racer takes 16-20 months. We provide detailed timeline estimates during the initial consultation phase.
Do you provide training for sailing proas?
Absolutely. Every vessel delivery includes comprehensive handover training covering all systems and sailing techniques specific to proa design. We also offer ongoing support and can arrange additional training sessions as needed. Many of our techniques transfer from traditional sailing, but the unique characteristics of proas benefit from specialised instruction.
What warranty and support do you provide?
All our vessels come with comprehensive warranties ranging from one to three years depending on the model. We provide ongoing technical support, maintenance guidance, and can arrange annual inspections. Our workshop in The Hague offers full service and repair facilities for all Summerbrook vessels.
Can you deliver vessels outside the Netherlands?
Yes, we regularly deliver vessels throughout Europe and can arrange transportation to most European ports. Delivery costs vary by location, and we can provide detailed quotes during the planning phase. We also assist with registration and certification requirements for different European jurisdictions.
